this ornament came from a 5&10¢ store the year you were born. we were walking up and down the aisles, you and i, looking at christmas lights and all the decorations. i had already started buying one "special" ornament a year, since our tree at that time was pretty generic. this year, this special year, our first year with a baby, i wanted you to choose. when you reached out for this ornament, i bought it. it came with another similar ball that we also still have - it's gold and has horses on it. but i think it was the red that you were drawn to. either that or the elves waving at you!

you should try to replicate that shopping experience with the baby girl! it'd be interesting to see what would be calling to her!
