either you made this gingerbread man yourself or someone made him for you. do you remember? all i know for certain is that he was important enough that we had to take drastic measures to keep him one year. upon opening the ornament box that christmas, we found that something had been nibbling a little gingerbread in the months prior. actually it looked like some sort of insect had attacked the felt. regardless, the gingerbread man was in no shape to display for christmas, what with all those little holes and his stuffing sticking out! after much thought and discussion, the family decision was made to amputate the offending limb. it was a tricky procedure but the results speak for themselves. the gingerbread man is still placed proudly on the christmas tree. he just can't run, run as fast as he can any more.

I really and truly have no recollection of either making the gingerbread man or the "surgery" you described. We should talk more about that to try to refresh my memory. It sounds like a good story.
