when i asked grampy for an ornament from dad's christmas tree when he was little, this is what he offered. its pretty plain but it's very big - the biggest sphere we have. we always placed it high on the tree, away from little fingers and cat's paws, and towards the front so it could be easily seen (see the star in the background?). there's nothing very remarkable about it. it's just your big old gold glass ball, probably from the 50s or 60s, that i carefully pack away after every christmas so i don't lose that piece of dad's (and now your) history.
