for the life of me, i'll never understand why anyone would do this to a christmas ball. but your great-grandmother did. grammy's mother made this and it was on dad's tree when he was a boy. that's crocheting around the ball and i'm betting great-grammy's tree was full of them in all different colors. it must have been fashionable at the time but it looks a bit garish on our tree now. regardless, we cherish it and display it because it's old and it's handmade and it connects us to the family of christmases past.
