#4: the headless mouse

details on this ornament are a little sketchy. i think we bought it together at a christmas fair when you were little - but i don't remember where or when. what i do remember is that the head of the mouse was a foil-wrapped hershey kiss. it was back in the days when hershey kisses were all wrapped in silver and it even had whiskers of some sort. i was always amazed that the kiss didn't melt away in the attic heat of july or get eaten by a bold marauding rodent. until one year, it did. as you can see, the felt ears remain, the festive blanket, the lovely lace. should we have replaced the head with another kiss? maybe. but it's more fun to hang it the way it is and retell the story year after year.
